What is C#?
C# is an object-oriented programming language that can be used universally. C# is characterised by a strong typification and concepts that are based on Java, C/C++ and Delphi. The programming language developed by Microsoft integrates into the .NET ecosystem and thus enables cross-platform development for applications on Windows, macOS and Linux as well as web applications. An extensive class library supports, for example, TCP/IP socket programming, the creation of graphical interfaces and interfaces for web applications.
When does soXes count on C#?
The universal applicability and the large class library make C# an all-round technology. At soXes, we use C# in all areas where agility and a wide range of possibilities are required. Thanks to the .NET ecosystem, soXes can create desktop, server and web applications or even REST APIs with C#. This simplifies implementation, for example, when a web version as well as a desktop version are required. At soXes, we often use a technology bundle of C#, ASP.NET and SQL server when modernising Delphi software, for example, in order to update the software to the latest technological standards and make it available to users via a browser.
Where has soXes used C#?
soXes uses C# very often in projects. For example, we were able to carry out a reengineering of an existing Delphi software on behalf of Wilux Print AG. In this project, we modernised the existing printing, scanning and labelling solution for large production facilities by migrating from Delphi to C#. Furthermore, we implemented a complete ERP system with TESTEX ULU to support all processes from order placement and planning to the execution and reporting of chemical and physical quality tests for textiles. The solution has been in use since 2016 and is continuously being further developed by soXes.
Why soXes?
With soXes you gain a partner with competence and reliability. For 20 years, our company has stood for the best quality in the development, programming and outsourcing of software. With its services, soXes covers the entire life cycle of an IT development (conception, consulting, development and support). Take the first step towards the successful implementation of your project and contact us for more information.
Sulzer AG is a globally active Swiss industrial group with headquarters in Winterthur. The company was founded in 1834 by Johann Jacob Sulzer as a foundry and produced cast iron, fire tips, pumps and apparatus for the textile industry. Today, the Sulzer Corporation employs around 15,000 people and generates sales of over 3 billion Swiss francs. Sulzer now consists of the core operating divisions Pumps, Rotating Machinery Services (such as generators and motors) and the Chemical Division.
To improve the project process at Sulzer Pumps, Sulzer Pumps Ltd. has commissioned soXes GmbH to create a software solution based on Access and Excel. Sulzer Pumps is the world's leading pump manufacturer with more than 20 production sites. The most complex pipeline system in the world is based on Sulzer Pumps and transports two million barrels of crude oil daily from Canada over 13 500 km to North America.
Today, all projects at Sulzer Pumps are coordinated via the Order Progress Room,a new service developed by soXes. The Access-based application clearly displays all orders, including order number, customer name, project name, project manager and project name, thanks to filter functions. Orders can be sorted by calculated or agreed delivery date. The core function provides a list of the order and production stages, whereby it can be defined for each order whether or not the respective stage can be kept to the planned deadline and whether or not there are any delays in delivery. Based on this order status overview, reports of up to a display size of DIN A0 can be generated and thus even printed as posters. There is also an import/export interface via Excel to the Sulzer ERP systems.
Thanks to the Order Progress Room, the project process at Sulzer Pumps was made clearer and its handling optimized. The solution is used worldwide (multi-user capable).

The diocese of St.Gallen, which has existed since 1847, is one of six dioceses in Switzerland. The territory of the diocese comprises the cantons of St.Gallen, Appenzell Innerrhoden and Appenzell Ausserrhoden. The central task of the diocese of St.Gallen is the pastoral care of the people and that the Catholic Church thrives and remains alive in the more than 142 parishes.
The personnel data of the Diocese of St.Gallen used to be managed in a simple Access application. Within the scope of this project, soXes was commissioned by the Diocese of St.Gallen to create a software solution that would allow the user-friendly collection and management of data from internal, external and freelance employees.
For this purpose, soXes developed a new web-based solution based on ASP.NET and Java Script. Thanks to the new application, a simpler, faster and more sustainable use of the personnel data within the Diocese of St.Gallen is made possible. Duplications can be eliminated and the technical basis can be raised to a modern level. Within the application different functions (e.g. chaplain) can be assigned to a person and this person can be assigned to one or more organizational units (e.g. parishes). Furthermore, clever filter functions allow users to create analysis lists and simple reports themselves. The application also offers the possibility to export data for an Outlook import or a file readable for Adobe InDesign.
Today's solution has significantly simplified the work with personnel data for the Diocese of St.Gallen. Because the personnel database is stored centrally, users can access it from different locations. Thanks to the different user rights, usage can be controlled in detail. Based on this new solution, the diocese now creates the printable version of the personnel directory with little additional effort on the part of the graphic designer.

Wilux Print AG is a specialist in the field of labelling. It solves labelling, marking and scanning tasks for all types of companies and industries reliably, simply and cost-effectively. Wilux Print AG specialises in the customer-specific manufacture of transport, scanning, printing and labelling systems.
In this project, soXes has received an order from Wilux Print AG for the reengineering of an existing software solution for one of their customers. Specifically, this order involves a Windows Forms application that is installed locally on the relevant PCs. This application is also connected to an SQL server and, via Windows Services, to various other devices such as label printers, EAN printers, wireless hand scanners and label scanners.
The challenge with this application was to ensure the high printing and scanning cadence at all times. It was also important to guarantee simple and intuitive user guidance. There was also a requirement for a real-time status overview of all jobs and devices or connections.
Thanks to the commitment of soXes, the project was successfully implemented.
Today soXes is working on further follow-up projects for Wilux Print AG.
Cenprom AG, based in the canton of Zug, focuses on the development of iOS and Android applications. It generates ideas and visions for new apps, which are implemented after thorough examination and conception.
For the implementation of the project "Agontronic" the company soXes GmbH was commissioned, which in close cooperation with the client brought the product to marketability.
Agontronic targets a younger audience, which is dedicated to playing online multiplayer games. Via the app, players can compare each other. Their achieved successes are converted into "scores", which are used in app own competitions. Besides the fame that is important in the gamer scene, material prizes can also be won.
With an increasing number of users, game manufacturers will be convinced to create exclusive game content for Agontronic users. These can be played in specially created competitions. Agontronic is designed in such a way that third party companies can also book and run competitions in order to increase their awareness in the scene.
As with many successful products, the underlying idea of Agontronic is very simple: The player should be able to use the points earned at the finish line to participate in competitions while pursuing his favorite activity - playing online games - without any additional effort. All that is required is the download of the app and registration, including the player's email address and country of residence. If the game is supported by Agontronic, he can link his user data (player name) with the app and his successes and failures achieved in the game will be transferred to the app. The received data in turn will be processed and converted into comparable "scores", which will be used for the ranking in the competition. Furthermore, the player can compare himself with friends who also use Agontronic.
However, the implementation of the requirements proved to be a greater challenge. The support of 4 different platforms - meaning different providers through which the players play the online games - as well as games from different manufacturers meant that a separate connection had to be implemented for each system.
The authentication of the players is done via the login masks of the respective platform, which returns the required user data to Agontronic if successful. This way, no login data (username/password) is stored in the app, which reduces the application's vulnerability to a minimum. Furthermore, the app only accesses game data that is publicly available.
The games are connected via proprietary APIs - Application Pogramming Interface, i.e. an interface provided by the manufacturer to query predefined data - which differ greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. The query and processing of the statistics obtained in this way must therefore be implemented individually for each game, but must ultimately be reconciled.
The fact that the game manufacturers greatly limit the daily queries of the statistics in order to protect their own systems from excessive load proved to be difficult. Agontronic is dependent on data in real time to a large extent, so that for example only one query per day/player to save "requests" is not sufficient for the operation of the app. A sophisticated system to reduce unnecessary queries - e.g. when players are not active and therefore no changes in the statistics are expected - and the distribution of statistic requests to different source systems makes it possible to simultaneously supply the application with statistical data in real time and on the other hand to take into account the limitation of the queries.
For the administration of users and contests an administration tool was implemented, which allows the customer to create contests. The planning of the competitions can be individually adapted to the type and needs of third party companies that book competitions with Cenprom for the Agontronic app. Period of time, prices, but also countries or regions in which the contest should be held can be freely chosen. Based on the country of residence of the Agontronic users, contests can also be created for marketing purposes. In return, the provider receives the contact data (e-mail addresses) of the participating players, who give their consent by participating in the contest.
In the beginning there was the idea of the customer to revolve the online games market. The app users were to be given the opportunity to win prizes with their hobby in a simple way without additional expenditure.
The company soXes took over the ideas and visions of the customer and designed an application according to his ideas, defined the software architecture and took over the communication to the project-relevant third party providers (Microsoft for xBox connection, Sony for Playstation connection as well as the manufacturers of the supported games).
Due to the agile approach, corrections and extensions to the concept and implementation could be made together during the course of the project in order to meet the dynamic environment of online games.
With "Agonotronic" the customer receives an application based on modern and value-preserving software architecture. Due to the modular implementation of the connected games and surrounding systems, further games can be introduced if required without changing the existing content. Using an administration tool, the customer can create and run competitions himself, has an overview of the registered users and can also block them - in case of disregard of the terms and conditions.

MySmarthHeart AG (MSH) based in Zurich helps patients and cardiologists to systematicallyrecordECG and movement data. For this purpose, patients wear small, waterproofsensors directly on their bodies for days or even weeks to record medical data while they can continue their normal lives, whether at work, exercising or sleeping. The medical data from the patients' everyday life is valuable information and is made available online to treating physicians. Patients and doctors can use the small, mobile sensors to exploit new potential for high quality in prevention, diagnosis and therapy. While collecting data from the patient, MySmartHeart continuously checks the quality and seamless transmission of the data, while you have direct contact with the customer via app.
MSH distributes the small ECG sensors and takes over all functions from logistics to support. For the smooth and efficient logistics of the ECG sensors, soXes has developed a tracking tool or portal in cooperation with the customer. With the tracking portal, the logistical processes of the individual ECG sensors are tracked precisely. The tool processes data from five different partners with the help of several interfaces and Mirco services. Thanks to the Tracking Portal, everyone involved can see exactly where the ECG sensors are located. An export function also allows partners and the MySmartHeart team to download and process active or closed processes. Thanks to the data collected, the Tracking Portal automatically recognizes when a replenishment of ECG sensors is needed and then creates an order. After the order is confirmed by a MySmartHeart employee, the order is forwarded to the appropriate partner via an interface.
This project was under enormous time pressure during implementation and the tracking portal had to be developed quickly. Thanks to very good cooperation, a lot of hard work, expertise and the right communication, it was designed and implemented within four weeks. The tracking portal is now used by several clinics and is constantly being expanded.
Thanks to the automation via the tracking portal, the logistical handling of the devices is uncomplicated and saves MySmartHeart and the patients and doctors a lot of time and coordination effort. The tool also facilitates the analysis of individual processes and helps enormously in detecting errors within the logistics chain. The tool has a modular structure and can be easily developed further and quickly adapted to new requirements at any time.

Gertsch Consulting und Mode Vision AG offers consulting and software for the clothing and fashion industry. This includes software for style development, the creation and editing of cuts as well as solutions for individualised tailor-made clothing. Since individualised made-to-measure clothing is currently one of the most important megatrends in the clothing and fashion industry, Gertsch Consulting und Mode Vision has commissioned the soXes GmbH team to help develop a solution in this area.
The aim was to develop an application for the acquisition of measurements for garments, which once acquired can then be automatically sent to a garment production company, where the corresponding garment is produced to measure. Gertsch Consulting and Mode Vision already had a software solution in use. Within the scope of this project, the task was to have soXes develop and improve the existing solution from scratch and make it web-capable.
This successfulcooperation resulted in the successful software solution POD - Pattern on Demand, which is used today in various clothing companies. Via the B2B2C-capable (Business to Business, Business to Consumer) webshop, the customer can act as a co-designer and individually create his or her fashion according to the offer of the supplier. For example, it is possible to design his individual shirt/blouse or suit/costume to measure. The customer sees by means of visualization what he changes, selects and how he designs the garment. The platform provides a very extensive range of functionalities from which a supplier of individual fashion can choose. Fabrics, linings, contrasts, materials, embroideries and variants can be recorded and managed. In addition, the customer has the possibility to individually print the fabric. This includes the colour-controlled selection of brand logos, the upload of own images (e.g. club or company logos), as well as the generation of text images to mark an article with your own lettering. The integrated solution also offers the possibility to inform customers or retailers fully automatically about the progress of an order via e-mail templates. The status of the order is also logged in the web shop.
Thanks to this solution, Gertsch Consulting und Mode Vision AG can generate significant added value for its customers. Because more and more companies nowadays want to offer customers the opportunity to help shapetheir personal clothing style as co-designers. This concept also breaks up the classic production and supply chains, as production and delivery is only done on demand. The POD solution takes these two circumstances into account.

WILUX PRINT AG is a specialist in the field of labelling. WILUX PRINT AG specialises in the customer-specific manufacture of transport, scanning, printing and labelling systems. WILUX PRINT AG's solutions are reliable, simple and cost-optimised.
The individual software solutions for WILUX PRINT AG's end customers were developed in-house. In recent years, soXes has taken over the maintenance and expansion of the Delphi applications. The applications control the automated creation of labels and their verification after printing. For this purpose, the application communicates via various interfaces with the end devices used. The aim of the project was to modernise the applications to a more up-to-date technology and to prepare them for future development. The locally operated clients should be able to access a shared centralised database in the future. The applications would then serve as an interface between the job data in the database and the printing and verification hardware provided by WILUX.
In a first phase of the project, the existing applications and processes were analysed and properly documented. In the second phase, the applications were built from scratch using the new .NET technology. In addition, desired adjustments of the applications were made during the new implementation. In a third phase, the system integration of the completed applications took place on site at the end customer's premises and was also supported by soXes.
By creating a cleanly structured documentation of the applications, future maintenance can be carried out efficiently and sustainably. In addition, the modernisation of the application from Delphi to the modern .NET technology provides a solid basis for further developments and ensures operation in modern system environments. With the help of the central databases, the processes of the end customers could also be sustainably optimised.
soXes will continue to provide maintenance and support for the modernised applications to ensure long-term operation of the solutions.
A provider of decentralized financial products operates a platform for cryptocurrencies, which was to be supplemented with a tool for arbitrage trading. The tool was to be based on a trading algorithm and thus function autonomously, making it possible for customers to passively generate income. soXes was commissioned with the implementation of this project.
In arbitrage trading of a cryptocurrency, the price differences on the different exchanges are exploited by buying the cryptocurrency from the cheapest provider and reselling it from the most expensive one. The price difference remains as profit.
For the algorithmic implementation of this trading method, the various exchanges must first be accessed. All prices from these are then collected and fed into the algorithm, which makes the specific buy and sell decisions. Due to the high volatility of cryptocurrency prices, fast access times and efficient algorithms are critical for the successful operation of the tool. Here, soXes was able to draw on a lot of experience in the fintech sector and build a stable and high-performance application using ASP.NET and C#.
With the help of the tool, end customers can now automate time-consuming arbitrage trading and use their crypto assets to passively generate income. The algorithm was designed in such a way that the tool can be easily used by anyone without any prior knowledge.

SolExperts AG is a recognized Swiss company that participates in renowned projects worldwide with geotechnical and hydrogeological instrumentation and field tests. The activities of SolExperts AG are in the fields of tunneling, hydraulic engineering, special civil engineering, wind energy plants and in research projects for nuclear waste disposal as well as for the sequestration of CO2.
The main activity of SolExperts AG is the monitoring and evaluation of the collected data. For this purpose, it operates a technical monitoring software, which utilizes information about connected devices, their parameters, alarms and functions. This information is organized and interpreted in JSON format. SolExperts AG commissioned soXes to create a new, more intuitive user interface for the application in order to be able to offer it to its customers as independent software.
In the first step of the project, the software was analyzed in detail. Due to the lack of a clean documentation and the high complexity of the tool, a re-factoring of the software had to be done. For this, a specification for the further procedure had to be created in an elaborate next step. The specified functions were discussed in detail in a subsequent UI workshop with SolExperts AG and the design experts from soXes. With the help of these inputs, a UI concept could be created and subsequently implemented.
For the implementation of the JSON tool the programming language C# was used. The back-end logic of the desktop application was implemented with the .NET framework and the user interface with the WPF class library. The basic building blocks of the project are so-called JSON files, which are interpreted and manipulated by the application. The tool also provides an export function to the TDMS file format, which is used by SolExperts AG to display the information graphically.
By creating a clean specification and then re-factoring the tool, SolExperts AG gained deeper insight into the complexity and depth of the application and now has a user-friendly and intuitive application with the new UI design.

Assessement Gate AG offers a targeted and holistic solution approach in the field of personnel selection a precise suitability forecast with individual candidate assessments. Quickly and easily, customers receive a basis for decision-making that is based on psychological knowledge, thorough data analysis and artificial intelligence.
The basis of this automated suitability forecast is a personality profile, which is created for each potential candidate using a detailed questionnaire.
The candidate's personality is assessed using a diagnostic tool that has been tried and tested over many years. This results in a comprehensive personality profile. In parallel, the companies determine the job profile with the help of various predefined selection fields by defining and weighting main tasks with regard to their importance for the job.
Based on many years of experience, a comprehensive data analysis and with artificial intelligence, an algorithm was developed which compares the job profile with the personality profile of the candidates. The result is the suitability prediction.
soXes accompanied the entire development process of Assessment Gate, taking overall responsibility for the technical part of the project as well as doing the complete implementation.
For the success of this project, soXes drew on its many years of experience in custom software development and project management and used a combined stack of several technologies.
