What does GDPR mean?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a European Union regulation that harmonises the rules for processing personal data by most data processors across the EU. The GDPR applies to any processing of personal data, in the European Union area. It does not apply to activities which fall outside the scope of Union law or to activities carried out exclusively on a personal or family basis.
Why is the GDPR important for companies?
Contrary to the assumption that Swiss companies are not affected by the General Data Protection Regulation, many Swiss companies fall within the scope of the GDPR even if they are not established in the EU. For example, national websites that also mention their prices in euros or delivery and payment conditions for EU citizens are already affected by the regulations. A service hotline in the EU or the analysis of the surfing behaviour of EU citizens are also examples of the regulation coming into force. For this reason, soXes follows the GDPR exactly when creating websites and webshops in order to avoid sanctions for the end customer. We work closely with our partner Reichlin Hess AG, a renowned law firm in Zug. Reichlin Hess has proven specialists in the area of data protection regulation. This enables soXes to provide its clients with comprehensive advice on both a technical and legal level and to issue individual instructions for action.
